My rebirth @ Lake Mayer
The shimmer of the lakes surface coupled with the most beautiful scenery puts my mind at ease and puts me in the most peaceful state. This is it. This is the place. How easy it would be to slip away while engulfed in all this beauty. What a pleasing way to go. As I feel myself start to drift, I keep my eyes fixated on this magnificent scenery as my eyes start to blur and all I can make out are the colors of the trees and the reflection of the sun on the water. This will be the last thing I see, and I'm completely content with that. Now my eyes are getting heavy as I fight to keep them open, trying to get one last glimpse. It's done. I was rescued and brought back, and that enabled me to look upon the beauty once more. Now I'm able to see it whenever I want, which makes still being here bearable. I may have survived but something in me died that day and it was here that I was reborn. I was a fresh canvas and had a blank slate. Free to start over and learn to love again, trust again, care again, and open my heart again. Free to let go of all the pain that has scarred my soul.
