My Place
My Place by Jack A.S. Dunce When both my eyes are green with plants and trees And all I breathe belongs to the blue sea, My senses settle down to quiet ease. The blinding lights I've never learned to see. A saunter through walkways along the lake And idly sit on the good old tree stump To watch the egrets glide above boat wakes And not glaring headlights of rushing chumps. The beauty of the night captured as waves, A quintessential smile frozen in time Are sensebilities my senses crave And not someone's absurd duct-taped pastime. Yet I might have gotten everything wrong; Maybe it's I who just does not belong? ©️pgmr 12/19/2024
