My One True Enemy
I look at my mirror often as a reminder. I don't avoid the truth. I never truly hated any being. Just one. When I look into my reflections, I see only one thing. My reminder. My mistakes. My one true enemy. It's me. I hate only me. I hold my sword by the blade instead of the handle. People who I shouldn't have trusted, Their stabs only feel like pokes in my back. But when I turn around, The one that really digs deep and draws blood is mine. I don't let anyone else hurt me, In the end, only those that matter will stay. But my scars, My pain, My tears. Only done by me. I am my enemy. The only person I can't face. The only person I can't look in the eyes. The only person I can't fight. The only person whose opinion matters, and the one that controls my life. I am myself. My friend. My family. My shoulder. My burden. But worst of all, my enemy.
