My One and Only
So many things I wish I could say, How many times I've wished I could show you, That I feel this way, You are my heart's desire, For you I do admire. A hard working man, our sole provider, Working so hard to pay the bills, Least I can do is keep house and cook a meal, Always on the road, new scenery to see, Going to haul another load of cattle, Oh, how lonely the road must be. The thoughts you must ponder with all that time, It is no real wonder we have hell, So many times, we could have rung the bell, Neither of us really wanting to leave the other. Closer to home I wish you would be, Home every night I wish I could see, In your arms is what I need, Beside you in our bed, Waking up with you each morning, Alas, this is my life, my home, With you, my one and only, I do truly belong.
