my mother's daughter.
i wish i wasn't my mother's daughter how i would do anything to not have been born to her how i wish i wasn't the child she gave birth to i dream of unmaking myself i dream of rewinding time i dream of erasing the child that was once carried in her womb maybe then she could've remained a girl forever had it been within my power, i would've told her not to devote herself to a man that would soon take away her everything; her freedom, happiness, and girlhood how i would've wanted to shield her from him i wish i wasn't my mother's daughter, i wish she had something that would've made her heart delight with serene happiness, for her to fulfill her many a dream, for all the things she wished upon the stars as a girl to come to life is my wish so selfish? the want to rob my mother off of the life she has now? the wish to have her not experience the beauty of motherhood? maybe it is yet my eyes birth tears each time i see how she suffers so– being a mother i wish i wasn't my mother's daughter, and yet i wish to have her as my mother in all lifetimes i dream of her happiness, even if it costs my existence.
