My Fleeting Age
As minutes tick by and fall away like sand Time slowly slips by and cascades from my hand The clock's relentless beat, a constant hum This is a reminder that youth is but a fleeting sum I gaze into the mirror's glassy stare And see, the years fall away from me, like autumn leaves fall bare The lines and creases, a topographic map Of memories and moments, forever locked and trapped In this reflection, I behold a face That once was so lively, of vibrant pace But now, the eyes that once shone bright and clear Are dimmed by time, the light barely there The anxiety creeps in, like a thief in the night Stealing away the hours, the days, the nights I think of all the goals, the dreams I've yet to claim I wonder how much time I've let run by me in vain The clock ticks on, its rhythm heavy and strong A reminder that time waits for no one, as we all march through its song I feel the weight of years, the burden of regret As I look back, and wonder where it's been, and where it's set But still, I hold on to hope, a glimmer of light A chance to turn the page to make things needed right To chase the dreams, to seize the day And make the most of my time, while here still awake.
