MY BARGAIN
I wish I could lay my heart on a table, auction it off to the Devil’s hand, or sign it away in the secret halls where the Illuminati command. For what has love ever given me, but shards of glass in an open vein? Each time I reached, it slipped away— each time I loved, it answered with pain. I’ve been the beggar at love’s tall gate, knocking with hope, denied again, left with echoes, cold and hollow, mocked by silence that whispers my name. So let them take it—this cursed feeling, this tender ache I can’t endure. I’d rather be empty, barren, forgotten, than bleed for a promise that never turns pure. If the Devil will buy, or the shadows will trade, they can have this heart, they can take it whole. Better soulless than endlessly broken— better nothing than love’s black hole. ---
