My Anchor and I
I am a sailor Just trying to navigate through the ocean It seems endless Sometimes there are violent storms So loud it feels as if God himself is screaming in my ear Sometimes I don’t know where I’m going My trusty anchor grounds me in storms It protects me Saves me Sometimes it gets stuck and delays the ship But it’s okay because it has got us out of tough times I have to use all of my energy getting it out of the sea floor My trusty, unreliable anchor Drains all of my energy, makes me lose hope One day the sky turned grey and I knew it was about to get rough I ran to my anchor so it’d support my ship but it wasn’t there Gone It detached and lost forever I panic Cry Trying to figure out what I'd do without it As my hands grasp the rough wood handle I realize It's easier Sure there are still storms but now I can steer We found land and I realized As my feet press down the soft grass That my crew are the ones that I want to be with The ones that guided me through
