Murder in the dark
The house was old, the night was deep, A shadow fell, while others sleep. A scream cut through the silent air, A chilling fear, beyond compare. The lights flickered, then died away, Leaving darkness, where secrets lay. A body slumped, upon the floor, A life was lost, and nothing more. Who held the knife, that ended life? Was it the husband, filled with strife? Or the neighbor, with greedy eyes? Hidden motives, in disguise. The clock ticked slow, a mournful sound, As guilt and fear, did then abound. Murder in the dark, a cruel display, Waiting for dawn, to light the way.
