Mornings
I was never a morning person An abstract ideal I couldn't achieve Many have tried to instill that drive All have failed tragically Since a child I had known A night owl I was marked Mornings were not for me Mornings were a farce Until you decided to change that In your own special way Perhaps it was your energy Perhaps when you asked me to stay Now I awake, no longer angry That I was disturbed from my brief dance with death I look forward to mornings Knowing you would bless me with your presence Perhaps I am changing As I always have Perhaps it was always within me I was just ignorant to it You have shifted my mental Shifted how I proceed For now I no longer dread it I look forward to our mornings
