Monsters vs. Parents
When we were kids we went to parents about everything. As we get older we don't as much, I don't know why. Mine would go days without talking to me, too busy reminiscing. They missed the I'm not fine, which was covered by my biggest lie. Fake smiles plastered on our faces, we barely get by. We draw further away from parents, as they do the same. Mine stopped wanting to be parents, too busy with kids to tame. I stopped going to my parents, I started calling them by their name. The monster under the bed seemed more friendly. He protected me no else would, he expected me when they refused. Parents are supposed to protect us, love us, and treat us kindly. At least the monster in the closet has authority they don't misuse.
