Mixed Messages
They ask, "Why won’t you eat?" "Why are you so obsessed with exercise?" They say, "It’s not healthy." "We’re worried about you." But in the same breath— they say, "You’ve gained weight." "You should really lose some." "You shouldn’t eat so much." "You should move more." "Don’t you care how you look?" They tell me to be healthy, but punish me for not being skinny. They tell me to love myself, but only after I’ve made myself smaller.
