Mind destinations
Upon a path of self-destruction I tread, A journey filled with darkness and despair, Each step I take leads closer to my dread, As I am consumed by my internal warfare. The demons within me claw and gnash, Their whispers poison my fragile mind, Feeding on my fears and doubts with relish, Leaving me shattered and blind. I seek solace in the bottle's embrace, A temporary reprieve from my pain, But the numbness it offers is only a trace, Of the peace I so desperately strain. I turn to substances to dull the ache, To escape from the prison of my own making, But the high is fleeting, the crash awake, Leaving me empty and shaking. I try to fill the void with toxic love, Seeking validation from others' eyes, But their affection is like a cage, a glove, Binding me to their cruel lies. I sabotage myself at every turn, Destroying relationships and dreams, Unable to break free, unable to discern, The truth buried deep within me it seems. I am my own worst enemy, my own worst foe, A saboteur of my own happiness, Burdened by the weight of my shadow, Unable to break free from this madness.
