Mid Winter Morning Jewel
It’s cold, it’s dark, I shouldn’t be up yet. Still here I am, in the cold and the dark. Everyone else in the house lay sleeping in the quiet. They are lost in peaceful dreams, just waiting for the alarm. Waiting for the day to start, and for the sun to wake. I’m noisy early in the morning, well more than usual. I seem to have no control over my steps, or coordination in my arms. It’s because I’m not really awake yet, just going through the motions. Staggering to the bathroom, brushing my teeth, and washing my face. The taste is a shock, and the water as cold as ice. I should wait for it to warm, but i border on lateness as usual. I go towards the car, it’s cold, and is that frost I see on the car? Yes it’s frost on the car, that will need scraping before I can go! I wish I left the scraper in one place, to save me from another desperate search. It’s finally ready, still cold, but it’s ready to go out on the road. I pass other poor scraper’s, as I roll out of the estate. I’m on the country road now, with the familiar, beautiful fields on my left and right. There’s a thick mist floating just above the grass of the fields. The sun is waking up, and poking through the dark clouds of night. Thr
