mean
"You branded me mean, but do you know the pain? How have I wronged you, when I'm fighting to sustain? I didn't share my struggles, thinking you wouldn't care, Or feel a pang of guilt for memories we once shared. You label me mean, but are you aware? Every day, I'm fighting to survive in the cold air. No food, no money – my biggest fear is to fade, But your concern is my silence, when I'm desperate to be saved. You say I've changed, that I'm mean now, it's true, But did you notice my struggles, my black hair, my empty clue? Did you see the scars I've been carving on my skin? You thought I was nice, but now I'm mean within. I want to apologize, but it's hard to confess, When my stomach's growling, and my body's a mess. Skin and bone, the bruises take too long to heal, It's my home, but I'm starving, and no one can feel. Have you asked, have you seen the depths of my despair? Okay, that's fine, I'm just mean – a label I must bear."
