Maybe, Until Then
Maybe in another lifetime, things will be alright. The morning air will be softer, and the nights won't be filled with the restless turning that comes from simply surviving the day. Maybe in another lifetime, life won’t be so hard. The weight will lift from our chests, and we won’t have to fight. The storms will pass faster, and the sun will linger a little longer. Maybe in another lifetime, we won’t have to be so strong. We'll cry without shame, and lay our armor down because the world will no longer be something we must survive. Maybe in another lifetime, we’ll be happy forever. We’ll laugh at the same things. Love won't slip through tired hands. We'll find each other again in the easy way light falls against our skin, and we won’t have to search for one another in the quiet corners of memory. Maybe in another lifetime, things will be like before, and time will give back what it took too soon, before we learn that sometimes growing means grieving. But until then, I'll keep searching for a quiet mercy hidden between the galaxies, hoping the stars remember us when they call me back to light. And that one day... it won’t hurt this much. _ngcali writes_
