Masquerade
and so the Masquerade begins 5 am, rubbing your face, trying to wake up replaying that dream from last night dragging your feat to the kitchen for a cup look into the bathroom mirror, oh what a sight decrepit hair, unshaven beard, messy eyebrows, eyes half open all because of hours stolen clean up, make yourself look "presentable" even though you only want to lay in bed hoping your effort is commendable but your met with ridicule instead "Your shoes aren't polished!" "There's a wrinkle on you shirt!" posture non existent, pride abolished wishing for a nap, down in the dirt False smiles, fake hellos lies spilled through teeth without a thought "Good morning, welcome!" "Where would you like to sit this morning?" "Certainly sir, of course ma'am" that was a dumb question "Here is your order, enjoy" the chef spat in that "Thank you for you patronage" your tips are all I'm here for "please come again" Kindly, never come back The shift finally ends, everyone is gone clean up, reset and be done I wish I had a damn gun Everyone's going out tonight what a joy to be invited party till they drop, I go home to dream of better days end this stupid Masquerade
