Mask of despair
He tried to make himself small, to fade into the wall To blend in with the shadows, not make a sound at all A child of abuse, whose soul was torn apart He smiled through bruised lips, tried to act like he never cared But inside he wept, the pain a silent tear As he tried to laugh and joke, to fit in and appear But his heart ached with the memories of hurt and pain So he put on a mask, to conceal the tears and rain
