In moments gone by, my heart danced with delight, When love's tender flame cast a glowing light. Promises were whispered, a bond so secure, Your words, a fortress, love's cure. You vowed to shield me, from sorrow's cruel sting, To cherish the dreams that true love could bring. With each passing day, your passion held sway, Assured of a love that could never stray. But shadows encroached, casting doubts in our midst, Disguised in deceit, like a venomous twist. Pain nestled its roots, shedding love's embrace, Leaving my heart bewildered, lost in grace. Betrayal's sharp thorns pierced deeply and true, Leaving scars, once tender, now tainted with rue. Aching with questions, that tear through my heart, I pondered the love we both played a part. Deep hurt clawed its way, crushing trust's gentle bloom, Leaving emptiness where hope once consumed. Though pain has its place, it can't be denied, In this whirlwind of love, it now takes its stride. Before hate's bitter seed takes root and engross, I choose to set free, what remains of love's ghost. For life is too fleeting, to dwell in despair, To cling to a love that's no longer fair.
