Lover in the Shadows
I found you in the darkness, where my demons often tread, A flicker in the void, a light I should have fled. Your touch was like a dagger, sweet pain upon my skin, A taste of what I crave, yet know I’ll never win.For I am made of madness, stitched with wounds unseen, A creature born of nightmares, where the horrors convene. My heart, a shattered relic, dripping with decay, Each beat a mournful echo of dreams that died away.I long to hold you closer, feel your warmth against my bone, But I know that in my madness, I’d tear you from your throne. Your love is like a mirror, reflecting what I lack, But the cracks upon its surface remind me I can't go back.To be loved by one so whole, so perfect and divine, While I, a beast of ruin, rot from inside my mind. I fear that in my frenzy, I'd drag you to my pit, And watch you bleed and suffer, in shadows where I sit.So I’ll love you from the distance, from the corners of my cage, A broken, twisted creature trapped in my own rage.
