Loveless Valentine
On this day of roses red, Where whispers of affection spread, I stand alone, a silent plea, A heart that longs, but can not see. The world is wrapped in red and gold, A tale of love that’s often told, Yet here I sit, with vacant eyes, A loveless Valentine, disguised. The card you sent, the words so sweet, Were never meant for me to keep. A fleeting thought, a passing glance, I watched a love dance, I missed my chance. The world will smile, laugh, kiss, While I remain in shadowed bliss. For what’s a heart, if love’s denied? What’s left when trust and hope have died? No chocolates sweet, no tender vow, Just emptiness and silence now. A loveless Valentine, I stand— A broken heart, an empty hand. And yet, within this hollow pain, I find a strength to rise again. For even in this aching sea, I’ll learn to love the parts of me.
