love is a fool's belief
I once believed in love’s sweet song, In whispered vows where I belonged. But what they didn’t say, what they never told, Is how love’s fire can turn so cold. You lured me in with words like silk, Fed me poison, called it milk. I drank it down, I swallowed whole, Until it burned right through my soul.Your love was a cage, gilded and bright, A prison forged in the dead of night. You wrapped me in chains of twisted lies, And left me drowning in my own cries. Each touch was a blade, each kiss a curse, And still, I thought it couldn’t get worse. But love with you was a cruel disease, A nightmare dressed in sweet decrees. You took my heart, you took my trust, Ground them down into bitter dust. Now all that’s left is a hollow shell, A living ghost in a personal hell.No more will I seek the warmth of love, For it’s nothing more than a vulture’s shove. It feasts on hope, on dreams, on light, Leaving nothing but endless night.I don’t trust, I don’t believe, In the fairy tales that lovers weave. For I’ve seen the truth, the rot beneath, The lies that hide in love’s false sheath. So keep your promises, your fragile dreams, For love, to me, is not what it seems. I’ve walked through fire, I’ve tasted ash, And love is all lies.
