Lost... Lost... Lost
In shadows deep where whispers sleep, A heart encased in silent shell, Beneath the weight of vows once bright, Now flicker dim, like waning light. The hearth, a stage of cluttered dreams, Where laughter fades in silent screams. Each trinket speaks of love's decay, In rooms where trash is on display. My children’s eyes, like distant stars, Reflect no warmth, but coldest bars. Their laughter, once a sweet refrain, Now dull and silent, a ghostly chain. And in the night, when shadows creep, A phantom calls from depths of sleep. The other woman, soft and fair, Her whispered sighs, a breath of fresh air. In secret, in my room, sealed away like a tomb. I find the solace that deceives, For though I live in this gilded cage, My heart, it longs to turn the page. Oh, love, a specter, cruel and sweet, In tangled webs, my soul’s retreat. For in this life of gilded strife, I seek the warmth of another life. So here I dwell, in cluttered gloom, A husband lost, a father’s tomb, Yet in the night, when dreams take flight, I chase the shadow... My love... My light.
