Lost City in my Head
I try to articulate my thoughts Impending doom All hope is gone Mercilessly casting full effort into the abyss of looming hopes and dreams a rumble in the distance the sky grows cold and bleak in fear of failing once more I feel my knees go weak I stand before the incinerator just my thoughts and me and wonder why I couldn't make the cut I see a staggering list of my personal failures That will soon enough become my history My once resilient sense of self reflection fogs and turns to a haze I'm left longing for stupidity once more and childhood's naive yesterdays. and under labored breath I whisper my blood oath That should I die it will not be in vain and mutter off a well loved quote, "In a single day and night of misfortune, the city of Atlantis was lost FOREVER..." Long live the city that I built in my dreams, Unrequited and unrevealed words left unsaid I will forever mourn my sovereign city, as she lay to rest-- On that alter-- in my heart, in my soul, and always a memory in my own head.
