Lost
I stepped outside and felt the night, Without you, there was no light. Standing alone in a crowded place, Feeling low, lost in your trace. A piece of reality, a piece of thought, Why aren’t you here?—the question caught. The wind whispers your name so slow, Yet silence answers, letting me know. The moon looks down with a knowing gaze, As I drown in memories, lost in a haze. The stars still shine, but not as bright, For you're the glow that gave them light. I hear your laughter in the autumn breeze, A fleeting echo that brings me to my knees. The scent of rain, the hush of night, All remind me of when things felt right. Footsteps fade, but the pain remains, Like a song that hums in endless refrains. The past still lingers, the wounds still ache, But love like this does not forsake. So I close my eyes and breathe you in, Letting the darkness pull me within. For even if you're out of sight, In my heart, you burn bright.
