Longing for the day
I trace the miles that keep our souls apart, A cruel geometry etched upon the heart. The days are heavy, draped in slow delay, Just shades of gray until our meeting day. I live my life, but in a muted key, My true vibration waits patiently for thee. I've memorized the sound of your dear voice, The only compass for my lonely choice. I count the hours, not with bitter dread, But with a hope that lifts me from my bed. For every sunrise brings us closer still, A promise whispered, meant the void to fill. I dream of moments others take for granted: A shared commute, a quiet seed we've planted, The casual brush of hands across the table, A simple presence making all things stable. Not grand adventures, just the everyday, Where your true self is close enough to stay. I build a future, brick by hopeful brick, A sanctuary where our hearts will stick. And when that final threshold we both cross, There'll be no measure left to count the loss. The waiting ends, the silence will give way, To the unbroken light of our first day.
