Lock and Chain
You kept me close by lock and chain. When you spoke it was in vein. I wish I could forget your name. The years with you I spent in shame. Covering the bruises you left on my skin Covering up all your lies and sin. Still picking up the pieces that you broke back then. Your scream piercing through my ears Filling all those wasted years. To think of all those weeping tears For you are who I once most feared. You saw the light inside me, all the love I had to give You thought you could destroy me, yet here I still live. Although you once stood over me as I curled up in a ball I finally stood up and realized you were small. I left your abuse behind me, locking it up and tossing the key. Thinking that was enough to set me free. Little did I know the pain id carry with me. The anxiety, still inside of me. Then I was a girl who was suppressing all her trauma Now I am a women ready to release her demons And guess what, I no longer hear you screaming.
