In the vast expanse of the night sky, I gaze upon the stars, shining high. But their brilliance pales, my heart knows why, For in your eyes, a celestial beauty lies. Yet, in your gaze, I find no solace there, A breathless ache, a burden hard to bear. Why do you inflict this pain, unfair? Now, the heavens above, I cannot dare. Rarely do I now seek the moon's embrace, For it reminds me of you, your enchanting grace. So I draw my curtains, hiding my face, Afraid to meet your eyes, in this fragile space. Do I regret not seizing our fleeting chance? Or do I lament my blindness, my ignorance in advance? Now, everything, my world, left in a trance, The horizon, the stars, all a bittersweet dance. They all remind me of you, Alastair, my dear, So paint me red, the color you hold near. Stay away from me, as if I'm a plague to fear, Yet, never forget the love that brought us here. For now, all I yearn is for your gaze to meet mine, Even if it's filled with disdain, a bitter sign. Because, my love, you reside in my heart's shrine, Please look at me, speak to me, one more time.
