Letting you go
I know we won’t be together again. Watching you move on leaves me sad and without solace. I wonder, if I had changed my ways, would we have gotten back together? My heart breaks at the thought of you with someone else. I could say, ‘don’t go, stay with me,’ and still, you wouldn’t come back. I wrote you countless letters, disguised as poems, but even that didn’t stop you from leaving. Maybe even if I turned every moment of our story into the most beautiful art in the world, I still wouldn’t have you back. I don’t know how to say goodbye to you. If I had known that was our last hug, I would never have let you go.
