Letter to myself
I've written words of hatred towards myself for many years Words filled with anger and fears. Words that hurt me, not others A list of my flaws, a dictionary of sadness Dear me who has pushed through pain and agony, attempted ending it all And has built an indestructible wall to protect what is left of a broken person You show love to others, but not to yourself You help friends, but hurt your own feelings You see your flaws, and criticize yourself Why do you hurt yourself so much? You used to shine bright, but now you're dim Your voice is barely heard, a quiet whisper You see your flaws, and feel ashamed Why do you put yourself down? But in the darkest nights, you've found strength You've risen from the ashes, reborn You've cried, and found peace And in the silence, you've found freedom Dear me, who used to be happy and full of life Where has life's darkness hidden you?"
