Lessons of toxicity
I gave you everything I had. I gave up everything I had, for you. My peace, my comfort, my sanity, My independence, my home, my life. Left in the wake and ruins of the empire I proudly built alone when I escaped you the first time. Here you are. And here I am, yet again. Have we not learned? You pursued me, yet again. And I calculatedly evaded every attempt. I finally held the reigns over my heart and my life. I was free. But that last time, that last time I believed you. I recognized the pain in your soul, the demons that haunted your memories of me, and I heard you cry, your cry out to me. I stared at my future like a fork in a river, The path to you was dark. I knew better. But I believed you. Dropping my happiness, my freedom, my life into the palm of your hands, I blindly trusted you. I forced myself to crawl through the broken glass and coals of reliving & forgiving to get to you, just to forever walk on eggshells & coerced to believe I deserve it. This is not what love is, And if it is, I don't want it. What have I learned? If a snake bites you 10 times, get away from the snake, for it plans to make it 11 if given the chance.
