LEMON SHAPED CLOCK
I finish dumping my trash in the landfill, Antique books and furniture, as well as an old treadmill. My eyes naturally fall upon a shine, A rusted toy clock, once mine. Made to watch the hours pass, only to eventually lose to time. The old yellow clock was bent in such a way, It looked a bit like a lemon, only rotted and decayed. But as i stare at this lemon-shaped clock, i can't help but ponder. How many joyful hello's it heard be bellowed, Or painful farewells it has seen, before it too said goodbye? I can't help but then think to me, when was the last time i felt joy? Was it when i was small? A child with a toy? Unaware of what it means to die? Or when was the last time i had to bare a sorrowful goodbye? As i think back to the good times, some i had even forgotten. My belly begins to twist and turn as i remember then how it all came to an end, my stomach knotted. I wish i had appreciated all the moments we had, the smile on her face when my tiny hands gave her a flower. So take a lesson from the rusted, lemon-shaped clock. Countlessly counting the ever passing hours, Enjoy the happy times, before it all turns sour.
