Lasting Memory
Pack my body in a wicker basket, Like we are going for a picnic away on the hill, and dig my grave in the packed earth, while I await there on God's window sill, As my body cools and you lower me into the ground, Say a few short, sweet words where in memories, I'll be found. Then lay me to rest high upon the hill, and pile my remains with soil, Let the world have what's left of me, as it's sure to spoil. And on summer nights come sit by me, on the hill and watch the stars- And proclaim that in due time, those galaxies will finally become ours. And when the time comes to pass, and you're ready to come home- Know that I've been patiently waiting, and on your final journey you will not be alone. For all living lives must come to an end, but it's not our last. I'll meet you just inside the gates, fore our love can not be lost in the past.
