Lantern
Ou said you were unlovable, That made it easier for me. You said you needed someone to comfort you, And I desperately needed to be her. If I'm being honest, it was a short amount of time between meeting you and wanting- No, needing to say "I love you" Everybody saw the way you looked at me, the way I held, how inseparable we were. I cried the day you left, and several days after. In fact, I still am. I keep searching for the comfort I found in your arms But now your arms are gone, and the warm flame of your love extinguished. Much too soon, and all at once. However, I kept mine in a lantern, hoping to pass it along, but it only illuminates your face. So I'll wait here with my lantern, and hope all the while that it's bright enough for you to find me again.
