Kingdoms of Dust
I once was high upon the mountains and victory was mine I staked my flag to claim my territory And boldly proclaimed it mine Yet little did I know although I should have known it well that kings on thrones do not reign from sovereignties, such as hell and while I was high atop the mountains shouting into the valleys down below I didn't hear the steps of enemy snipers, about to reduce my happiness to woe and as the foe surrounded me about to seal my fate I cried out for the mercy of the gods in heaven but I was much too late and one by one the bullets came piercing and causing fatal wounds the kill shot was from my own weapon a tongue of braggery and things assumed and I lie my blood escaping consciousness was a haze I took the last breath from my lungs and cursed them and their descendants to come for the rest of all their days now as I lie in my tomb cold and dark underground I have become the king of my own righteousness no glory to be found and I rule over this dirt and all beneath my crown of glory these days forever more a decripted, faded memorial wreath so was it truly worth my life to chase the taste of the upper crust? Only fools and mad men, would-- To find their kingdoms to be dirt and dust
