Just Us
The map between us holds its breath, With miles of road and open air, But distance is a hollow depth When I can find you everywhere. We haven't shared a morning light, Or walked the ground where shadows fall, Yet in the quiet of the night, I feel I’ve known you through it all. Like seeds that wait beneath the soil, Or pages in a book unread, There is a grace in all our toil, In every gentle word we’ve said. So rest tonight and dream of things That haven’t happened, but are true— The simple joy the future brings, And the day I finally walk to you.
