Just Leave Me Alone
Every day has become a battle We argue and we fight This relationship has become a pointless plight You tell me that I'm stupid and scream that you don't care You shattered all the hopes and dreams, I had, for a life we'd share. I bend until I break for you, to your every demand and will I beg and plead, from my knees But you don't hear me, still. Now I'm growing tired Not the tired remedied by sleep but the kind of tired where the soul is in dire need of peace. I don't know why I keep holding on, to this thin, unravelling shred of hope Your words today loosened my grip even more-- Like oil or grease, on the rope. My hands are slipping and sliding The rope cuts me to the bone-- If you truly don't love me, then why can't you just leave me alone?
