Just be yourself

Yes, you're a coward but, at the same time you're a warrior who stand firm in a raging storms. You keep the pain to yourself and at the same time you keep moving forward for your loved ones. All I can say you're braver than you think. In other words you're not coward, there's nothing wrong of protecting your love ones by sacrificing yourself of how much you can handle. Remember that you are a beautiful soul.
