It's Only a Game
I played the game Through a screen, and it said my name Holding my hand out with what ounce of hope Hoping in their embrace, their presence, their hands I could cope What did I expect, it was only a game A separate reality where joy is not the aim "It is not real!" , the stranger said I agreed, nodded, yet it stuck in my head How foolish to think the outcome can be changed But I was wrong, and my heart ached For those souls who were not even existent Old wounds reopened, and tears on the verge This heart that was ignored but never mend Emotions that resurface and recess; all those that collide and diverge Like a puzzle with a missing piece I long to find that comfort, wishing my shoulders would ease But its grip stays, slowly choking with a vice Reality is not forgiving, it tells you to endure So I hide the truth behind my eyes
