"It's just a joke"

It's just a joke, they say, Your skin and bones, You're too thin and frail, You look like a skeleton. I thought jokes were supposed to be funny, not cruel and harsh, but it's just a joke, they say. You're too fat, You look like a pig, Lay off on the burgers, You will never be able to get in shape, but it's just a joke, they say. But I thought jokes were meant to make someone laugh innocently, but nobody is laughing. And when I try to speak up, I instantly get turned away, It's just a joke, they say, It's just a joke.
