It doesn't Hurt As Bad
Hurting yourself doesn't hurt when you're in pain. I remember my first time wondering what was the gain. Twenty three, I remember the number all too well. I wondered why it wasn't the same pain as when I fell. Two year clean before my artwork came back. It happened when everything went black. Eighty seven, I didn't realize the number had tripled. My only thought was that I had to be fine because I wasn't crippled. I'm fine, plastering on a fake smile. One social event feels the a mile. It doesn't hurt as bad when you can't think. Maybe that's why it takes us to the brink.
