Insanity’s Lament
In shadows where my heart does dwell, I hear the echoes of a distant bell, Calling me to love, to feel, to be— But madness lurks inside of me.Your light, a warmth I cannot hold, A fragile truth my mind enfolds. I fear the touch, I fear the flame, I fear the whispers of my name. For in my depths, where chaos reigns, Where broken thoughts shatter like chains, I know I’m not the one you need, A garden dark that cannot seed.Yet here you stand, so close, so pure, I tremble with a heart unsure. To love you is to breathe and die, To watch you burn beneath my sky.So I turn away, though it breaks my core, And leave you where you were before. Safer there, beyond my grasp, Away from this dark, desperate clasp.I’d rather live alone, insane, Than hold your heart within this pain. For love, they say, should set us free— But it would only break you, Loving me.
