Inheritance
The seed of the parent Watered by the actions of the environment Where it hails bullet shells and rains blood And the skies are shook at the thunder of a mother's cry What have her children come to? Her baby girl whose smile once was a light for morrow shadows Is now defiled Her brown skin is a open book Wrinkle lines tell her reader about her sins Her son bereft of his father Harbours ships of dangerous emotions Never hinting a clue on which is to sail Mama, what have we inherited My brother burns everything in rage And my sister sells herself short to whoremongers Though your eyes like the desert Your soul cries it's echo carried by the four winds
