Ineffable Essence
If I was ever asked if you were a word, what would you be? I'd stand in silence, searching for a word that could define me. One word can't describe all my flaws, all my grace, Can't capture my essence, my soul, or my face. A single word? No, it won't do, Too many thoughts, too much to construe. Perhaps alienated, it seems, for I often feel alone, No friends to call my own, or maybe insecure, For beauty's mirage I chase, oh, it's true, I care too much about what others think and do. You can use many words, but one won't do, No word seems fitting for me, ineffable, Emotions too deep to understand, Drifting from life like sand through a hand. If I had to choose, I'd pick "useless," you see, For that's the word that seems to fit me. But even then, it's an attempt that's fruitless, For in these words, I try to find where I stand, Yet none can truly capture who I am. For no word alone can capture my soul, It's only in many that I find myself whole.
