Indelible past
Maybe if I leave you, all will be erased, I'll learn to move on, to laugh, not be phased. My smile may return, bright as it once wore, Open that closed door, make space for more. Hating you should be easy, yet I fight, But your memory lingers, casting its blight. Others have come and gone, left in my wake, But you, my dear, are still the one I can't shake. Jealousy makes me question, plans in my mind Why can't I dine at your table, but you on mine? Shouldn't I halt at the line, why no wall or bridge? Am I your light, holding a candle, no privilege? You break my heart, yet you're special, true art Mistakes teach, yet I repeat, a foolish restart. Crumps and crunches, stomach's plea, Your name brings uncertainty. Sleepless nights, cause and blame, Hell's embrace, everyday I claim. Sorry say, wounds yet not healed, What have I done, fate's sealed? Believing your words, my heart sways, Impossible love, fairytales ablaze. Tell me how it is, a whispered plea to heal, They say time strikes a chord, but grief remains surreal, Each tick resounds, an echo of wounds not yet sealed, Minutes, hours lost, in wounds, I still reel.
