In the Shadows of Desire
Each day I wake with strength to fight, But shadows creep back in by night. I chase the thrill, then face the cost, In moments sweet, I know I'm lost. The weeks go by in whispered shame, Each promise made, then lost again. I try to rise, I beg, I fall, The silence louder than it all. The months blur out like faded dreams, I’m torn apart by quiet screams. My eyes avoid the glass I see, Afraid to face what's left of me. "Please set me free," my spirit cries, But craving speaks in louder lies. Still deep inside, a light remains— A flicker glowing through the chains.
