IN CHAINS, IN BLOOD
By Julius Malah Matete Munthali Whips pounded down like hailstorm all-over Shaking bones could not hold the grief stricken me Everything was in disarray Not one thing was in order Just confusion and more pain Chained, a face scathed countless times In blood, a face swollen, unrecognizable Punched, kicked and almost unconscious Grounded, battling for life Faintly and remotely I could hear "Don't burn him up!" "The real culprit has been caught!" "This man is no thief!"
