Imperfect
I call myself imperfect like it's armor I can wear, But underneath it's just my pride and ego standing there. My selfish ways keep creeping in when I should give her more, And I can see it hurting us, see love walk toward the door. I'm scared of losing her to all the things I can't control, The parts of me that sabotage the good inside my soul. She deserves a better man than who I've been some days, Someone who can love without the walls and defense plays. I want to change, I swear I do, I want to make this right, To kill my pride before it kills the best thing in my life. But wanting isn't doing, and she's felt this pain before, How many times can "I'll be better" matter anymore? So here I am, imperfect, scared, and fighting with myself, Trying to choose her over pride, her peace over my wealth. I don't want to lose the love that makes me feel complete, I just need to learn that loving her means I compete with me.
