I'm still afraid
to ever see you again- Steering clear of places in town I know you've been to before, Just in case. I think I would throw up on the spot. The turmoil churning- Fear and anger Begging for immediate release, Not waiting for an answer. I would cower, Hide Make no eye contact- Methods of survival gripping hold And dragging me back, It's fierce talons Breaking open old scars I worked hard to forget. I want to run. The look on your face, A permanent apology For all of the pieces of myself I peeled off for you, The skin on my arms flaking at your memory. I look down Still expecting to see your hands Outstretched, Catching the dead parts of me As they crumble.
