I'm sorry but It's Done
In the ephemeral dance of love, I gave my all, my heart's deepest core, A sacrifice of devotion, that you would reciprocate, and forever adore, But alas, your indifference, like a winter's chill, did freeze, The ardor of my passion, leaving naught but sorrow's dark release. We can bestow material gifts, a fleeting token of our esteem, But can these trifles sustain the flame, that burns within the heart's esteem? For when it comes to matters of the heart, pecuniary measures fail, And love, that most ethereal of emotions, cannot be bought, nor sold, nor frail. Remorse and love, two distinct sentiments, that often masquerade, As one, but true love's essence, pure, untainted, and unafraid, Cannot be purchased, nor coerced, but flows from the soul's depths, A natural, spontaneous effusion, that only genuine affection breathes. I wasted precious moments, loving you, while you remained inert, Unwilling to reciprocate, or even acknowledge, the depth of my heart, I sacrificed relationships, and endured the slings of scorn, To be with you, to love you more, but you failed to meet me halfway, forlorn. I fabricated a life, a mock marriage, to be near you, to be thine, I lied, and was reviled, for loving you.
